Thank you, Caroline Kaltefleiter, Jim Donaghey and Will Boisseau, for sending me my copy of the new book Punk Anarchy in Action!
Published by Active Distribution, it is the third volume in the Anarchism and Punk Book Project series.
From various corners of Europe, Southeast Asia and the Americas, some of the themes in the 18 chapters of this 520-page book are: anti-fascism; violence; religion and anti-religion; intersectionality; squatting; feminism; veganism and animal liberation; and ageing in radical scenes.
My chapter, on punk and anarchism in the Netherlands 1977-1982, is in the form of an interview with the mysterious ‘Chris P. Kale’ (and thank you Terry and Michael for some advice!).
Some points in it: anarchism in Dutch punk fanzines; the relationship with pre-punk Dutch anarchism and with UK bands Crass and Poison Girls and with the 75% French and 25% Dutch women of the Lou’s. Some of the Dutch bands mentioned: Infexion; Ivy Green; Nitwitz; KGB; Cheap ‘n’ Nasty; Ketchup; the Götterflies; Rondos; Krapuul.
Some issues in 1977-1982 Dutch society: the fight for women’s rights on abortion; and mass opposition to nuclear weapons.
